COVID-19: Customer update

We’re currently experiencing a high volume of calls into our contact centre and whilst we are doing our very best to maintain service levels, we ask that you only call our contact centre if absolutely necessary so we can keep our phone lines available  for vulnerable customers and those who don’t have access to online services.

If you need to check any details or make a change to your policy, please  log in to your Self-Service Centre. It will be much quicker for you to make changes to your policy online at the moment. Once logged in, you can also use our Webchat service which is available Monday- Saturday 8am-6pm and Sunday 10am-4pm to make changes, accept or decline your renewal or if you need to let us know about a claim. Car Insurance

It can be really frustrating when your car goes wrong, and it’s usually at the worst time too. So, why not give yourself peace of mind by getting cover with Britain’s most experienced breakdown service; the RAC.

Should you have RAC Breakdown Assistance you can be sure that their friendly staff will get someone out to you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Not only that but they fix 4 out of every 5 cars at the roadside.

With 5 levels of assistance available, you can choose exactly the type of cover you actually need.

What's covered?

  • UK roadside - if you're more than 1/4 mile from your home address, the RAC will aim to fix your car at the roadside, with no call out charge.
  • UK roadside and recovery - the same cover as UK roadside, but the RAC will also take your vehicle and passengers to your chosen destination or to your home address.
  • UK roadside, recovery and at home - the same cover as UK roadside and recovery, but the RAC will also provide assistance if you are at your home address or within 1/4 mile of your home address.
  • UK roadside, recovery, at home and onward travel - the same cover as UK roadside, recovery and at home, but you'll also get either replacement vehicle hire for up to 24 hours; onward travel by another means or overnight accommodation while your vehicle is being repaired.
  • EU and UK roadside, recovery, at home and onward travel - the same cover as UK roadside, recovery, at home and onward travel, but you'll also be covered for assistance in 48 European countries.

For full details of benefits, exclusions, limitations and cover, please refer to the policy document.

Remember, all tiers do not cover

  • Breakdowns that could have been prevented by regular servicing of the vehicle
  • The costs of parts, fuel or other supplies are excluded
  • Any claim that isn't a breakdown - i.e. Road traffic accident
  • Any labour provided at the garage to which the vehicle was taken
  • Any motor caravan, or vehicle in excess of 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass, or longer than 5.5m (7.6m when towing a trailer or caravan)
