Reasons to have a staycation

Staycation beach

Going abroad is fabulous, you get guaranteed sun and gorgeous beaches. But don’t forget, there are some beautiful places just waiting to be discovered on your front door step. To give you some inspiration we have written a blog reminding you why you should stay in the UK opposed to jumping on a plane!

If you can get yourself to Norfolk, Devon or perhaps the Welsh coast you’re in for a nice surprise. With acres of sandy beaches, stunning cliff tops and coastal skies, why would you even contemplate going anywhere else? Okay, it may not be guaranteed sunshine, but take your chances in the summer months and you will more than likely get some sunny days. There’s plenty of activities to do, including building sand castles with the kids, visiting old seaside towns and most importantly of all… eating fish and chips on the sea front.

The UK is known for its history, with some towns dating back hundreds of years, so why not take the opportunity to explore what’s on your doorstep. If you fancy taking a trip down to London, visit the London Dungeons or if you’re further north, check out the city of York where the streets and houses are known for their Tudor appearance. The 15th century Tudor house owned by Sir Thomas Herbet’s is a great building to see as half the house is made from timber! If you’re not a fan of that sort of thing you could visit the National Space Centre in Leicester, this is a great place to take the kids as there’s so much to see and do, especially in the summer holidays.

Grab your hiking boots… you’re going to need them. Britain is known for its amazing countryside views and great outdoor walks, so why miss out! Some of the most glorious scenery can be found at the Lake and Peak Districts and are well worth the drive! If you would rather stick to flat land, head over to the Norfolk coast. From Cromer to Hunstanton, there’s plenty of places to stay or visit and the walks are breath taking. So, go get yourself some sea air!

Less hassle

We all love going abroad but you’ve got to admit, the hassle of taxi’s, airports and spending hours upon hours traveling isn’t always pleasant. The benefit of staying close to home is that you can just pack up the car and go! You also have the luxury of being able to travel at any time, as there’s no rushing around to get to the airport on time or waiting around for flights… not to mention delays!!!

Take your bike

If you don’t fancy walking all week, why not take your bikes with you, you can buy a bike rack to put on your car! Biking is a great way of exploring new places as you’re able to travel that little bit further than walking. It’s also more economical than using a car! Take the opportunity to find local bike routes in the area you’re visiting and enjoy the views. Just remember your helmets, lights and bike locks!

Getting around

If you don’t have your own car to get to your staycation getaway destination, don’t forget that you could get a short-term car insurance policy with our sister brand: Jaunt

With Jaunt, you could get a comprehensive policy for just 1 hour, up to 30 days so you can borrow your mate’s or family member’s car for your staycation trip. As long as you’re between 18-75, you could get a quote in minutes and be on your way in 15.
