100 days of holiday you never knew you had

Summer

It’s that very exciting time of the year, where your annual leave is requested and those special holidays are booked. Whether it’s a week in sunny Spain or a trip to Norflok, there’s plenty of travelling for you to look forward to. However, do we rely too much on our annual leave to travel? Well yes, as there are 100 days of holiday most of us don’t utilise properly… THE WEEKENDS!

With the bank holiday approaching we’ve come up with some activities you can do between the hours of 6 o’clock on a Friday through to Sunday evening.

Go camping

Tents, potentially cold weather and being at one with nature, let’s face it camping isn’t for everyone! However, have you ever considered have a look at Glamping? There are plenty of sites up and down the country that offer different types of accommodation and can be good value for money! Pack your bags, ready to hit the road after work on Friday, giving you two nights and two days to enjoy somewhere different. A change is as good as a rest after all!

Visit the UK’s top cities

Nowadays most big cities are accessible through train or by car (if you can be bothered to drive). London has so much to offer and you can be there within a couple of hours. Why not look online to see what trains are available for Friday night and be spontaneous – You can find train tickets on websites such as www.thetrainline.com.  Grab a friend and explore new places.

Get on your bike

If you love exercise and don’t fancy resting for the weekend, why not look at a cycling break. There are a range of different breaks available and all for different levels of cyclists. It’s a good way to explore Britain’s countryside and you can meet new people along the way. Have a look at the Lake District, as there are many cycling events that happen there and the views are something else! Or if you don’t fancy steep hills why not look at road cycling events such as Land’s End to John O’Groats, however you may want to train for that one! If you are just looking for something a bit more relaxed, take a look at the Cotswolds, there’s plenty of nice routes with stunning views to see. This weekend would probably require a great deal or energy, but if you’re looking to make the most of your days off, this is definitely a great option.

Go further afield

If you don’t fancy staying in the UK, why not try a European city break. With hundreds of cities to choose from, there’s something for everyone only a short flight away! If you’re lucky enough to have an airport nearby, why not see what flights are on offer, you could find yourself leaving the office by five and in Rome for bedtime! This is a great option especially if you’re in need of some Vitamin D as temperatures are often considerably higher leaving you feeling refreshed for the Monday morning struggle.

The world is your oyster so don’t waste your weekends, pack your bag and head off on an adventure.
