Women are better at remembering to sort out the home insurance when they move property, according to a new study.
Research carried out by AA Legal Services found that women are more likely to remember their home insurance when moving home and rearrange their home insurance policy. According to the figures, 81 per cent of women make changing their home insurance details a priority after moving to a new house, compared to 76 per cent of men.
Meanwhile, the need for adequate home insurance cover in the home was demonstrated by another statistic from the research, as over half of new homeowners make DIY projects a priority when moving in. undertaking DIY schemes can be a good way to leave your stamp on a property, but getting the home insurance arranged first is often a good idea, because of the threat of such efforts going wrong.
Many people who begin a DIY project will see it go wrong at some stage and as such ensuring you have adequate home insurance can be an important way to mitigate against accidents when attempting to turn a house into a home.
Buying new curtains was one of the main ways to spruce up a new home, with 52 per cent of people doing so when they moved in, while 54 per cent chose to paint the walls. While these events may not result in too many disasters and losses of income, more extensive work can often mean home insurance is essential.
