Females to drive unusual vehicles for charity
05 February 2010
Women's car insurance policyholders from across Hertfordshire may be in training for a forthcoming event that will see them behind the wheel of large and unusual vehicles.
The Ladies Driving Challenge at Boyingdon Airfield will take place on March 14th and is inviting women to join in and support a good cause.
Local companies are donating vehicles for the event and experts will be on hand to provide training for the females taking part in the morning or afternoon.
Event organiser, Laura Harden, commented that the day will be challenging as it places women behind the wheel of vehicles typically associated with men.
To take part,
car insurance policyholders of the fairer sex should apply for a registration pack and pay the £10 fee to take part. They must then accumulate sponsorship of at least £90.
All proceeds from the day will go to the Fire Fighters Charity and Grove House Hospice.
"Behind the fun there is a serious message - that we are supporting those heroic fire fighters who risk their lives for us," Ms Harden added.
Heavy goods vehicles and fire engines will be among the vehicles available to try out on the day.
Similar events are also being held across other UK counties, including Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Cornwall and Gloucestershire.
