Peugeot scoops awards for family-orientated crossover car

A new crossover vehicle might turn out to be just the family auto
car insurance policyholders are looking for with their next vehicle purchase.
Peugeot's 3008 crossover car, which has the looks and stance of a 4x4 but combines this with elements of a family car and a multipurpose vehicle (MPV), has scooped the top prize in the What Car? Car of the Year Awards.
What Car? editor Steve Fowler commented that crossover cars are set to become a key focus as Britons opt for vehicles that do not pose the financial and environmental costs that 4x4s pose.
"The 3008 fills that brief perfectly - it's got the looks people want, the space they need, it's great to drive and it's well priced and cheap to run," he added.
Peugeot's 3008 also took the newly-introduced crossover class at the event, which was held at London's Grosvenor House, while its 5008 model was named best MPV.
The manufacturer's UK managing director Jon Goodman described the result as "fantastic".
"Both the 3008 and the 5008 will broaden the appeal of the Peugeot brand to customers old and new, and the ultimate endorsement of three What Car? awards will help both new cars to even greater success," he went on to say.
Earlier this month Peugeot said it will launch 14 new models and create a new marque plan for style by 2015 in order to get ahead in the world's vehicle market, potentially attracting a greater number of car and van insurance policyholders to its products.
