Safety prize for Subaru
23 November 2009
A range of different Subaru vehicles have been recognised as some of the safest on the road in a new test conducted in the USA.
Crash safety tests in the USA conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have revealed that the Subaru family of vehicles proved to be among the safest tested. Indeed, the manufacturer was the only car producer to be rewarded as a Top Safety Pick for every model tested.
Vehicles with roofs that are more than twice as strong as the minimum standard were considered for the tests. Commenting on the crash study, president of the IIHS Adrian Lund said: "With the addition of our new roof strength evaluation, our crash test results now cover all four of the most common kinds of crashes."
Drivers looking to limit the cost of their
car insurance may find that knowing more about a vehicle's safety record helps them in their decision of what to invest in when purchasing a new motor.
And if a vehicle is safer, there is the chance that its insurance premiums will be lower as well.
Earlier this month, Volkswagen was named by RoadTestReports.co.uk as Europe's top car manufacturer. The marque scored highly for reliability and was also found to offer aspirational yet affordable vehicles.
