Vauxhall's Corsa now 13 per cent more economical

Car insurance policyholders looking to invest in a fuel-efficient vehicle may be interested to read that Vauxhall has significantly increased the fuel economy of its Corsa offerings.

Vehicles within the firm's ecoFLEX range have undergone modifications to enhance their economy by an average of 13.2 per cent more miles to the gallon.

Additionally, car and van insurance policyholders with a green conscience can rest at ease knowing that five of the six models now emit under 125 grams of CO2 per kilometre.

The firm's 1.2-litre petrol model has been revamped and consequently has dropped a vehicle excise duty band despite gaining a little more power, while the models in the range also now benefit from a new eco gearshift.

Steering and suspension setups have also been altered to improve ride and to make the cars yet more appealing, Vauxhall has announced extended levels of kit as standard on the models.

The firm's SE, SXi and SRi offerings have been upgraded to include cruise control and an onboard computer as standard, while the lower-priced SRi model now comes complete with air conditioning, revised suspension settings,17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels and a VXR styling kit.

Those planning to leave their car purchase until next year, however, will be able to invest in Vauxhall's most economical Corsa yet, when it launches in January 2010.

The three-door ecoFLEX model will have increased power levels raised by 20ps, while reducing its CO2 output to 98 grams per kilometre.
