Travelling with your car to countries outside of the United Kingdom is considered as foreign travel. There are 2 categories of country to which the policyholder may travel, EU countries and non-EU countries
You need not inform us in advance if you intend to travel to the EU as you do not need a 'Green Card' (see Green Card question below), your Certificate of Motor Insurance is enough proof of car insurance within the EU
Note that your car insurance policy only provides EU cover for up to 60 days - please call us if cover is required for more than 60 days
Your policy provides the same cover as in the UK when travelling abroad to the European Union (EU) and in all other countries where we are legally obliged by reason of European Directives and the relevant United Kingdom law, to provide cover
By law as a result of EC and EU directives, we must extend this cover to many other countries. Before travelling outside the EU you are advised to contact us to make sure that you are covered - please allow enough time before you leave for us to send you a green card if you need one. If required cover will be extended to s specific country, or countries, for a specific period of time and you will be issued a Green Card as evidence of cover
NOTE: Recently a customer discovered that if one should wish to travel in Slovenia or Croatia we will not offer cover, and that no other car insurer will cover customers either. However car insurance cover can be purchased at the border for the required time.
